Caroline Simpkins Berk
Caroline Berk’s passion is color, from deep dark rich hues to pastels so soft and tender that you want to caress them. The geometry of her abstract pieces reflects her interest in Architecture. She enjoy’s applying paint with a palette knife but also uses large brushes as well as other tools. She puts her mind, body and spirit into each painting. Her style is a mixture of abstract and impressionism.
Caroline Berk studied the principles of design and the elements of art through quilt making and landscape design before beginning to paint. Her first art classes were taken at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. She continued with online classes from Cities and Guilds in England, earning a certificate in Sketchbook( color and design). She has also earned a certificate from Clemson University in Landscape Design. She has studied oil painting with Mary Benz Gilkerson, Anne Blair Brown, and Pamela Caughey.
Caroline exhibited at the Art Station in Stone Mountain GA, winning a ribbon for her quilt On a Clear Day. She has also exhibited paintings in TN and GA and has paintings in several private collections.
