Sandra Babb is enthralled with light on objects from light beams mysteriously flowing across mossy ruins outside to a dramatic set-up with favorite objects in the studio. Her goal is to capture light’s revelations. She has been actively painting plein air since 2003. She enjoys working with pastels, watercolor, and acrylics but she “thinks in oils.”
Sandra earned a BA in Graphic Design from UT Chattanooga. She teaches children and adult art classes and facilitates life drawing sessions at the Creative Art Guild in Dalton. She also offers private classes in her lovely studio in North Georgia.
Sandra is a longtime member and past President of the Civic Arts League. She is an active member of the Booth Artists Guild in Cartersville, GA; the Sky Painters Society of North Georgia; and the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association in Blue Ridge, GA. She has been an associate member of the Portrait Society of America since 2008. She exhibits paintings at Ringgold Art and Frame in Ringgold, the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Center, Blue Ridge, GA and The Blue Chair, Sewanee, TN. She is available to do commissions of subjects from beloved relatives to old barns.
“I keep easel, canvas, oil paints, brushes, mosquito spray, and cooler in the Van. I constantly search for a place to plant my feet and easel. The resulting paintings remind me of certain times and places along the way and I praise God for giving me the joy of painting His creation.”
