Vicki Simpkins Styons
After retiring from a career in secondary education, Vicki Simpkins Styons decided to try something entirely new: art.
She found her niche with acrylic and mixed media and has taken classes from local artists as well as on the Internet. She is a member of several art organizations and frequently shows her work in various galleries. Her work is in private collections in several states as well as in public establishments. Combining her background as an educator with her interest in art, she has served as a docent at the
Hunter Museum of American Art.
Vicki’s work includes various types of art, but she leans toward abstract work which may be faces, florals or something completely non-objective. Her eclectic pieces are generally marked by bright colors and an upbeat mood. Almost always her aim is to bring joy or peace to the viewer.
